چکیده

Neurogenic inflammation encompasses a series of vascular and non-vascular inflammatory responses, triggered by the activation of primary sensory neurons with a subsequent release of inflammatory neuromediators, resulting in a neurally mediated immune inflammation. Neuromediators are mainly released from neurons. Immune and/or structural cells are secondary sources of these mediators during immune inflammation. Neuromediators include neurotrophins and neuropeptides (table 1).

Neurogenic switching: a hypothesis for a mechanism for shifting the site of inflammation in allergy and chemical sensitivity.

Neurogenic switching is proposed as a hypothesis for a mechanism by which a stimulus at one site can lead to inflammation at a distant site. Neurogenic inflammation occurs when substance P and other neuropeptides released from sensory neurons produce an inflammatory response, whereas immunogenic inflammation results from the binding of antigen to antibody or leukocyte receptors. There is a cros...

Cellular mechanisms of neurogenic inflammation.

Since the initial observations that stimulation of sensory neurons produces vasodilation, plasma extravasation, and hypersensitivity, much progress has been made in understanding the etiology of neurogenic inflammation. Studies have focused largely on the role of the neuropeptides, substance P and calcitonin gene-related peptide, which are released in the periphery by activation of small diamet...

Effects of capsaicin desensitization on nasal allergy-like symptoms and histamine release in the nose induced by toluene diisocyanate in guinea pigs.

Intranasal application of toluene diisocyanate (TDI) induced nasal allergy-like symptoms of sneezing and watery rhinorrhea and decreased the histamine content of the nasal mucosa in guinea pigs. However, in the animals pretreated with capsaicin (capsaicin desensitization) before sensitization with TDI, nasal allergy-like symptoms were not induced. Capsaicin desensitization also inhibited histam...

The anatomical and functional relationship between allergic conjunctivitis and allergic rhinitis

There are numerous anatomic connections between the allergic conjunctivitis and allergic rhinitis. The most obvious reason is the physical connection via the nasolacrimal apparatus. However, a closer look at innervation, circulatory, lymphatic, and neurogenic systems reveals much more than a physical connection. The eye is richly innervated by parasympathetic nerves that enter the eyes after tr...

The Relaxant Effect of Crocin on Rat Tracheal Smooth Muscle and Its Possible Mechanisms

Crocin, a component of saffron, showed hypotensive which is perhaps due to vascular smooth muscle relaxant effect. The relaxant effects of saffron on tracheal smooth muscle also could be due to its constituent, crocin. In the present study, the relaxant effects of crocin and its possible mechanisms on rat tracheal smooth muscle were investigated. The relaxant effects of three cumulative concent...
